The MINDStorm Creativity Contest - Rules and Criteria

Eligibility

 

1.1.The contest is open to all engineering students enrolled for the school year 2010-2011 in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa Manila.

1.2. Entries can be submitted by any individual or group

1.3.There is no limit to the number of members in a group

1.4.Any individual or group can have more than one entry

1.5.Student’s projects/thesis will be encouraged to join the contest.

 

2.      Contest requirements and Mechanics

2.1.Contestants are required to submit the following to the MINDS office 1st Flr. CEA Bldg., NDC Compound, Sta. Mesa, Manila not later than 6:00PM November 19, 2010:

 

·         4 copies of the completely filled – out entry form

·         4 copies of research abstract

·         4 copies of description/ drawing / picture of the entry. This may be supplemented by a video clip on what the research is all about- the problem it is trying to solve, and how it provides the solution

·         1 copy of the current registration form of each participant.

·         1 copy of signed waiver.

 

2.2.All contestants are required to install their working models/ products/ exhibit materials at the exhibit area on December 1, 2010 at 8 o’clock. All exhibit materials should be moved out on December 1, 2010 at 3 o’clock  after closing ceremonies.

 

2.3.All contestants will be assigned a booth (free of charge) to display their official entry/ies. Contestants will be notified for their specific booth assignments.

 

2.4.Entries will undergo pre-judging prior to contest proper wherein the Panel of Judges will select the Final Five.

 

2.5.The selected Final Five will receive official notification from MINDS- PUP.

 

3.      Judging

3.1.Pre-judging will be held on November 29, 2010(date by the Panel of Judges who shall select the Final Five.

3.2.The selected Final Five should prepare a 15-minute oral presentation to the Panel of Judges on the Final Judging on December 1, 2010 at the Audio Visual Room, College of Engineering and Architecture Bldg, NDC Compound, Sta. Mesa, Manila at 1 o’clock.

3.3.For the participants who will use Powerpoint presentations, a copy must be given to the judges and officers.

3.4.The decision of the Panel of Judges shall be final and irrevocable.

3.5.The Panel of Judges will select the Top 3 from the Final Five.

3.6.Criteria for Judging is as follows:

4.      Awards and Prizes

 

4.1.Awards and prizes will be given to the winners during the Closing/Awarding Ceremony to be held on November 29, 2010 at Audio Visual Room, College of Engineering and Architecture Bldg., NDC Compound, Sta. Mesa, Manila.

 

4.2.First Placer will receive P2, 000.00 plus plaque of recognition.

 

4.3.Second Placer will receive P1, 500.00 plus plaque of recognition.

 

4.4.Third Place will receive P1, 000.00 plus plaque of recognition.

 

4.5.All contestants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

 

  1. Submitted entries will not be returned to the contestants.
